I’m not going to lie, but I am a bit sad that I am all done with Halloween decorations this year. Our house has been decorated so it’s perfectly spooky, and the kid’s Halloween costumes are all done, now we just get to enjoy the next couple weeks of parties and playing. But as soon as Halloween is over, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so I am starting my Thanksgiving decor with these easy Thanksgiving place cards for the perfect Thanksgiving table.

I love adding a few simple decorations for Thanksgiving. I know if it was up to my husband I would take the time to give it all the attention I do for every other holiday. He get’s mad that Thanksgiving sometimes gets left out. But there is just so much going on from October to January that something’s gotta give. However, this year I am trying to make sure Thanksgiving gets something special.
So today I am sharing these super easy Thanksgiving place cards that you can use to make Thanksgiving a little more festive than just the turkey and pie. They are so easy, you can even have the kids help make these place cards. And if you don’t want to make place cards, you can use them as decorations or even treat boxes.
Since these easy place cards are pumpkins, they can also be used to decorations for the entire fall season. How cute would these be if you drew jack-o-lantern faces on the front for Halloween treats or place cards too!
Okay, so now that you know all the fun ways you can use these easy DIY Thanksgiving decorations, let me show you just how easy they are to make. Which is good if you are having a huge group over for dinner!

How to Make Easy Thanksgiving Place Cards
Supplies:
- Free paper pumpkin template
- Click here to download the PDF
- Click here to download the Silhouette cut file
- Printer (to print the PDF template) or Silhouette cutting machine (to cut the template)
- Cardstock
- Use whatever color will work with your Thanksgiving decor. You will need 1 sheet per pumpkin.
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
- Floral wire
- Optional: treats to fill the finished boxes
Print the template on a piece of colored cardstock or cut it out with your electronic cutting machine. I used a pale taupe cardstock so they would resemble my favorite white pumpkins that I used all over my house for fall decorations this year. Cut out along the solid lines and score or crease the dotted lines.
Glue the two pieces of the pumpkin box together at the bottom. Make sure the pumpkin sides are opposite each other. I would recommend writing names on the pumpkin fronts at this point, it’s much harder when they are assembled.
Once dried, fold all the pieces up toward the center. Then grab the two stems and press them down.
Then you can loop the holes in the sides over the stems.
Fold the leaf in half along the dotted lines. Cut a 2-3 inch piece of green floral wire. Wrap 2/3rds of the around a pencil. Then fold the remainder over and glue it to the back of the leaf.
Finally glue the leaf to the top side piece of the pumpkin box with a dollop of hot glue. Make sure you glue it to the side piece that is looped over the stems last so you can open it up again.
Now you can open it up and fill it full of treats, I chose peanuts because my kids think shelling peanuts is the best thing ever! Seriously, they love it and it entertains them for a long time.
All that was left to do was make a simple Thanksgiving tablescape with your Easy Thanksgiving place cards so we can enjoy a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner. My kids already love their new paper pumpkin boxes.

I downloaded your file opened up my Cricut Design Space and the total cut is 10.59 x 13.553″ Is that the right size? Do I need to make it smaller. You did not mention what size the pumpkin is when assembled.
The pieces should fit on an 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheet of cardstock. But you can scale them up or down depending on what size you want!
Ok I downloaded your file, unzipped your file, uploaded it to Design Space, but couldn’t ungroup the file. Now it is cutting out your personal message at the bottom. Is it supposed to do that? How can I get it to stop cutting that section?
These are so darn cute!! I’m sure everyone will enjoy the special treats inside, great idea! Visiting from The Creative Circle.
