Winter is officially here in Utah. The temperatures dropped, the snow came, and outside it is COLD! Luckily, our family loves the snow, especially our kids. They have been outside playing so much since we got dumped on earlier in the week. Wood Slice Ornament Banners

I love wood slice ornaments. Help them make a statement on your tree with these easy wood slice ornament banners. Beautiful and rustic. | Housefulofhandmade.com

I have always been a little obsessive about the Christmas tree. I have a color scheme and style that I want to focus on. I usually don’t change my decorations from year to year, but every few years I do switch things out as I get bored. Before we had kids, we had a sparkly blue, purple and silver tree, full of glass baubles and all things fabulously breakable! I would put up the tree and decorate it all by myself. Everything was perfectly placed. I would evaluate every ornament with the lights on, then with the lights off. See, totally obsessive. I even decorated the back of the tree perfectly. DIY Wood and Steel Serving Tray

Make a simple and beautiful wood and steel serving tray for the holidays. A great DIY for gifts or to entertain this season. | HousefulofHandmade.com

These last couple weeks I’ve been a little MIA. I am still not back to my regular self after getting sick last week. I thought I was feeling better on Monday, but then after using a ton of energy cleaning up gallons of water from a broken washing machine, I was down again.

I ended up taking two naps on Tuesday and another on Wednesday, and I do not nap. Usually if I nap, I cannot go to sleep at night so I avoid it. This week, I had no problems going to sleep earlier then normal even after my naps.

I guess I need to take it easy for a bit more. But I did manage to finish one project so I am excited to share it with you. In preparation for the parties and food with the upcoming holidays, I made a simple, but beautiful wood and steel serving tray.

How to make a Halloween sunburst mirror that looks like it has been in grandmas attic for years! Perfect for your spooky Halloween decor. Tutorial from Houseful of Handmade.

Are you ready for more Halloween fun today? I have been racking my brain for a focal piece for my Halloween mantle. The rest of the mantle is set up like a scary witch’s apothecary, with lots of potion bottles and potion ingredients.

Then I will add the new potions and spell books I just made. But everything I had was low, and I needed some height in the middle. I have always liked the look of sunburst mirrors, so I made one, and then I made it spooky for Halloween!

Woodsy Fall Log Wreath

Rustic wreath for fall made from branches trimmed from a tree.

Here’s another project from last year, but last year it was a crafting FAIL!. Let me explain. My neighbor was trimming his tree and had these beautiful branches in the front yard ready for the trash pile. So what does a crazy, DIY addict do? Asks if I can have all the branches 🙂  I grabbed a bunch and put them in with my wood stash in the garage. Then when fall hit, I had a brilliant idea to turn them into a wreath!
