These last couple weeks I’ve been a little MIA. I am still not back to my regular self after getting sick last week. I thought I was feeling better on Monday, but then after using a ton of energy cleaning up gallons of water from a broken washing machine, I was down again.

I ended up taking two naps on Tuesday and another on Wednesday, and I do not nap. Usually if I nap, I cannot go to sleep at night so I avoid it. This week, I had no problems going to sleep earlier then normal even after my naps.

I guess I need to take it easy for a bit more. But I did manage to finish one project so I am excited to share it with you. In preparation for the parties and food with the upcoming holidays, I made a simple, but beautiful wood and steel serving tray.

My neighbor was trimming his tree and had these beautiful branches in the front yard ready for the trash pile. So what does a crazy, DIY addict do? I have decided I really like beadboard. I have always thought it was a nice addition to a room, 6 years ago we lined the nursery with beadboard 6 feet up every wall. It is such a classic look. A nice white painted beadboard will never go out of style.

But since we lined the nursery with the beadboard, we have some left over in our garage. I have lots of 2′ wide pieces and a few bigger pieces. So I have been finding ways to use it up. I used some of the 2′ pieces in the dining room built in bench and then when I made my summer printable, I knew I wanted to make a picture frame for it using some more left over beadboard.

One more week until school’s out for us! I am really excited about it. Lazy mornings, swimming lessons (which means 1/2 hour for me to sit in the sun and relax), and sunshine! We love spending time in the backyard. The kids can splash in our little pool, play tag on the grass, and the best part is having lunch or dinner outside. When we tell the kids we are eating outside they are more than excited for dinner.
