DIY Wood and Steel Serving Tray

Make a simple and beautiful wood and steel serving tray for the holidays. A great DIY for gifts or to entertain this season. | HousefulofHandmade.com

These last couple weeks I’ve been a little MIA. I am still not back to my regular self after getting sick last week. I thought I was feeling better on Monday, but then after using a ton of energy cleaning up gallons of water from a broken washing machine, I was down again.

I ended up taking two naps on Tuesday and another on Wednesday, and I do not nap. Usually if I nap, I cannot go to sleep at night so I avoid it. This week, I had no problems going to sleep earlier then normal even after my naps.

I guess I need to take it easy for a bit more. But I did manage to finish one project so I am excited to share it with you. In preparation for the parties and food with the upcoming holidays, I made a simple, but beautiful wood and steel serving tray.

Woodsy Fall Log Wreath

Rustic wreath for fall made from branches trimmed from a tree.

Here’s another project from last year, but last year it was a crafting FAIL!. Let me explain. Watercolor Thank You Cards

Raising kids is fun. It helps you to see all the things you are doing wrong! Okay, maybe not wrong, but I have noticed as we are trying to teach our kids to be grateful and say “Thank you” whenever someone does something for them, that adults don’t say “Thank you” very much. My mommy-radar is so honed in on asking “Please” and saying “Thank you” that I actually find myself correcting other grown ups! Ha ha. My husband is sick of me saying “You forgot to say Please!”

DIY Clipboard Picture Frame with Beadboard

Make a simple clipboard picture frame in a couple hours. Tutorial on Houseful of Handmade.

I have decided I really like beadboard. I have always thought it was a nice addition to a room, 6 years ago we lined the nursery with beadboard 6 feet up every wall. It is such a classic look. A nice white painted beadboard will never go out of style.

But since we lined the nursery with the beadboard, we have some left over in our garage. I have lots of 2′ wide pieces and a few bigger pieces. So I have been finding ways to use it up. I used some of the 2′ pieces in the dining room built in bench and then when I made my summer printable, I knew I wanted to make a picture frame for it using some more left over beadboard.
