DIY Metal Hexagon Wall Art

I love this idea for art! Use a combination of wood and metal to make a statement home decor piece. This DIY metal hexagon wall art is the perfect way to add design to your home on a budget. | Housefulofhandmade.com

Today I sent my son off on his first day of school. He was so excited to be starting the second grade and is starting to act like he doesn’t need his mommy anymore. Of course, I walked him to the door on his first day even though he told me he didn’t need me to.

I am not a sentimental mom, I have actually been looking forward to school starting so I can have some time to get things crossed off my list, but come on buddy, I still get to walk you to your class on the first day.

After we dropped him off, my daughter and I rewarded ourselves for getting up so early with our favorite Chick-Fil-A breakfast, then it was time to get some work done! And first on my list was to finally finish this DIY metal hexagon wall art so I could finally share it with you.

How to Build a Woodshop on a Budget

This video is awesome! Getting started with DIY can be expensive because there are a lot of tools to buy. Just because you are on a budget, doesn't mean you can't get the wood shop of your dreams. I am working hard (or hardly working) on our master bathroom vanity! I spent the whole day in the garage on Monday, but it was such a mess from all the other projects I have been working on, so I spent the day cleaning and organizing instead of building.

Now I have a place to build the vanity and this coming week there is nothing going on so I will also have time. I can almost smell the progress!

Learn to patch and texture ceiling drywall with these simple steps.

I do not have a remodel update for you today. With two long weekends in a row out of town, there just hasn’t been any time to to work on the remodel. I still have to paint the stairway and sand/seal the new rustic railings before we can get the new carpet in the living room.

I also need to set aside a couple days to build the vanity in our master bathroom, but there will be plenty of time to do that after we enjoy our summer so I am not stressing too much yet. But as I was going through pictures of my projects, I realized I took pictures to share how to patch and texture ceiling drywall and I never got around to it.

So I thought I would take this week’s remodel update to show you how easy it is.

Vintage Inspired Farmhouse Fireplace Reveal

I love this vintage inspired farmhouse fireplace. DIY your own fireplace with new white hexagon tile on a budget. Love the white tiles and gray grout. Farmhouse fireplace reveal from Housefulofhandmade.com

It’s done! It’s done! I can’t believe it’s done. When we moved into our house 10 years ago, our fireplace was surrounded by wood paneling. Unfortunately all our before pictures were lost on an old hard drive, so I can’t show you how truly awful it was. But trust me, it was awful. Our house was built in the late 70s so you can only imagine what a wood paneling fireplace with no mantle looked like. Over the years I have made baby step improvements, but now it is completely done! I am so excited to finally share our vintage inspired farmhouse fireplace reveal.

Remodel Update: Tiling the Fireplace Hearth

I'm working on updating a boring fireplace with a farmhouse style starting with tiling the fireplace hearth. The fireplace will be surrounded with beautiful white hexagon tiles with a gray grout. A wonderful update for only $100. | Housefulofhandmade.com

I’ve caught a series case of the summers! The summers are when you loose all motivation to do anything except go to the pool. When you have the summers you definitely do not want to do anything that requires expending energy in the heat. Remodeling your home is near impossible when you have a case of the summers. But I did not want another Saturday post saying I did nothing on the remodel this week. Two nothing reports in a row is just sad, even if it is summer. So I fought my case of the summers really hard and managed to accomplish a little project: Tiling the Fireplace Hearth.

Installing Baseboards and Door Trim

This week we installed baseboards into the master bathroom. While I continue to struggle with installing baseboards and door trim, I am really great at filling in any gaps with this cheater trick! | Housefulofhandmade.com

This week I knew I wasn’t going to get anything too big done in the bathroom. I’ve had a busy week with lots of end of school stuff. But I am trying to at least get one thing done each week so I can creep closer to a beautifully remodeled master bathroom (hey it’s been 7 years in the making, what’s a few more months right?).

But this week I knew I could make time for installing baseboards and door trim since bathrooms are relatively small.
