What do you do when you need a break? I like to build things! Not necessarily big things, those take too much brain power and concentration. When I need a break, I build simple decor things.
Since I needed a break today after trying to get the kids to do their chores and I needed a little something more for my patriotic summer mantle, I decided to take the day to build this easy DIY Rustic USA Wood Sign and I love it!
I’ve caught a series case of the summers! The summers are when you loose all motivation to do anything except go to the pool. When you have the summers you definitely do not want to do anything that requires expending energy in the heat. Remodeling your home is near impossible when you have a case of the summers. But I did not want another Saturday post saying I did nothing on the remodel this week. Two nothing reports in a row is just sad, even if it is summer. So I fought my case of the summers really hard and managed to accomplish a little project: Tiling the Fireplace Hearth.
This week I knew I wasn’t going to get anything too big done in the bathroom. I’ve had a busy week with lots of end of school stuff. But I am trying to at least get one thing done each week so I can creep closer to a beautifully remodeled master bathroom (hey it’s been 7 years in the making, what’s a few more months right?).
But this week I knew I could make time for installing baseboards and door trim since bathrooms are relatively small.

Last week after figuring out the tiling and grout, I was so excited to add my tub and shower fixtures and use the new shower! Even though the rest of the bathroom isn’t done, I was determined to start the completed shower.
So on Friday I took my daughter to Home Depot to pick out our new tub & shower fixtures. I found a nice gentleman in the plumbing isle to assist and told him I needed a new bath faucet. He asked me what valve I had? I looked at him like a dear in the headlights!
The master bathroom is looking so good! I find myself being drawn to it all day, just so I can look around and think about what it will look like when it’s all done. But then I snap out of it and get back to work! Honestly, in January I felt like a finished master bathroom was never going to happen for me. I vowed to get all the drywall done in January (and only missed that goal by a couple weeks). And once the walls are closed up, it all started to just come together.
OMG! St. Patrick’s Day is the next holiday, do you know what that means??? Spring is so close! I cannot believe how excited I am for spring. I am so ready for the ground to thaw so I can plant something. But until then, I will have to do some spring decorating to bring the green inside. I am starting my green decorating with this St. Patrick’s Day Shadow Box for the mantle.
