Raising kids is fun. It helps you to see all the things you are doing wrong! Okay, maybe not wrong, but I have noticed as we are trying to teach our kids to be grateful and say “Thank you” whenever someone does something for them, that adults don’t say “Thank you” very much. My mommy-radar is so honed in on asking “Please” and saying “Thank you” that I actually find myself correcting other grown ups! Ha ha. My husband is sick of me saying “You forgot to say Please!”

I have decided I really like beadboard. I have always thought it was a nice addition to a room, 6 years ago we lined the nursery with beadboard 6 feet up every wall. It is such a classic look. A nice white painted beadboard will never go out of style.

But since we lined the nursery with the beadboard, we have some left over in our garage. I have lots of 2′ wide pieces and a few bigger pieces. So I have been finding ways to use it up. I used some of the 2′ pieces in the dining room built in bench and then when I made my summer printable, I knew I wanted to make a picture frame for it using some more left over beadboard.

I’ve been hard at work on a new surface pattern collection. I was inspired by the umbrellas at the sea shore but I didn’t want to go with the normal bright summer colors. I wanted to use more subtle vintage inspired hues. Then because I was going with a more vintage color palette, the idea morphed into a pattern collection about vintage sea shore. I wanted vintage dressing huts and a boardwalk.

One more week until school’s out for us! I am really excited about it. Lazy mornings, swimming lessons (which means 1/2 hour for me to sit in the sun and relax), and sunshine! We love spending time in the backyard. The kids can splash in our little pool, play tag on the grass, and the best part is having lunch or dinner outside. When we tell the kids we are eating outside they are more than excited for dinner.
